June CX assignments

For my CX assignments in June I got to work with the new Great Escape line by MAking Memories...a perfect line to scrap your vacation photos!

Catcing up and getting back into the swing of things

Whew...having a newborn in the house sure turns things upside down, I'm lucky if I get a shower let alone have a few minutes to blog. Now that Austin is a month old (yikes, he's already growing up too fast!) I'm going to catch up a little with my blogging.

Here's a few scrappy projects I've been working on :)

THis layout is of Kayleigh Snow surfin at the cabin this spring. She was so funny...she thought she was so cool, she spent most of the time laying in the snow giggling after she fell down.



THis one is some older pics that I just got around to scrapping for a CX DT assignment. I used the Basic Grey Lime Ricky collection, perfect for some fun fair photos!



These are some of my favorite photos of my little Kay...we took them just before EAster this year, I love how they turned out. This is the first page i've scrapped using them...LOVE this page. I did this for the CX DT application.

We're almost ready!

THe count down is on! It's almost time for baby #3 to arrive. We've slowly been getting things ready and finally got the last of the baby "stuff" last night. We still have to put everything together but it's all here in the house. THe kids are so excited for the baby to be here. Mom is ready to not be pregnant anymore and Dad is getting ready for the big fishing trip and hoping the baby is good and waits until he gets home to make his entrance!

This is my favorite thing so far (I have a bit of a diaper bag fettish, I've been eyeing this one for weeks.)

Outta This Funk

Here's a fun project I finished a while back. It started out as a wall hanging but..somehow it turned into layouts that sit on my mantle. I love how it turned out and I love that I can easily add another layout to the end when the baby is born.

Easter Photo Shoot (a little early)

We decided to take the kids Easter pictures early this year because I'm not sure we'll be around nest weekend for the annual Easter Morning photo shoot.
I'm so excited about how the pictures of Kay turned out. She was being a princess in her new dress and she knew it!!! She was ready for any picture I wanted to take.




I got several nice pictures of "Princess Kay"

Cole on the other hand thought taking pictures was a terrible idea and so he pulled goofy faces for most of them. Grrr….BOYS! So, I only got one decent shot of him and it’s not my favorite. 


Overall, I’m pretty happy with the photos of my little boogers, now, maybe I should get on the ball and make some Easter cards.

It's mostly just for me becasue I'm forever finding recipes that I like and then I can't ever find them again, so I started a blog so all my favs are in one place :)

Latest CX projects

I thought some of you might want to take a peek at what I've been doing at CX lately.

My assignment for this month was to create a layout applying “Harmony in general and as it applies specifically to solids and patterns.”


Defined by Colormatters.com:

“Harmony can be defined as a pleasing arrangement of parts, whether it be music, poetry, color, or even an ice cream sundae.


In visual experiences, harmony is something that is pleasing to the eye. It engages the viewer and it creates an inner sense of order, a balance in the visual experience. When something is not harmonious, it's either boring or chaotic. At one extreme is a visual experience that is so bland that the viewer is not engaged. The human brain will reject under-stimulating information. At the other extreme is a visual experience that is so overdone, so chaotic that the viewer can't stand to look at it. The human brain rejects what it can not organize, what it can not understand. The visual task requires that we present a logical structure. Color harmony delivers visual interest and a sense of order.


In summary, extreme unity leads to under-stimulation, extreme complexity leads to over-stimulation. Harmony is a dynamic equilibrium.”



This has to be one of my favorite elements of design. I love to mix different patterns and solids. Basically creating harmony in your projects means to create a project that is pleasing to the eye. You don’t want to use too many bold-big-colorful patterns. If you choose to use a bold or larger pattern make sure to balance it out with a solid or a smaller, less distinct pattern. In both of my layouts I chose 2 papers that were very bold but I only used a small portion of the paper and balanced them out with using smaller patterns and matting portions of my layout with solids.
